André Groß studied Cognitive Informatics (B.Sc.) and Intelligent Systems (M.Sc.) at Bielefeld University. During his studies, he specialised in human-robot interaction and autonomous systems. In his master's thesis, he investigated behavioural approaches to the therapy of children with autism, such as joint attention training, and developed an architecture to implement these approaches using a virtual agent.
After completing his Master's degree, André has been working in the Medical Assistance Systems working group since November 2021 and is doing his doctorate in the Collaborative Research Centres (SFB) 318 in the field of "Constructing Explainability". His work focuses on developing attention models in explanatory dialogues between humans and robots. He is particularly interested in social robotics, the intelligent guidance of tasks and addressing human understanding in the context of explanations.
